Inflatable Japanese Teahouse

Japanese Tea Houses are among the most beautiful and serene structures on the planet, and are usually minimalist in design and modest in size. This inflatable Japanese teahouse, designed by Kengo Kuma, was created for an exhibit at the Museum für Angewandte Kunst Frankfurt. At a first glance you don’t even know that is a house I thought that is a inflatable balloon, and maybe discotheque, but not a japanese tea house. Normally this type of structure does not make it past the drawing board, but the Japanese have more guts then we do when it comes to architecture. I don’t know why they wanted to build this house because is just a waste or material, time and money.

The teahouse does not rise up from the ground as a fixed wooden construction, but unfolds as an airborne form. When a ventilation system is activated, the teahouse swells into shape like a white high-tech textile blossom. In its interior, comprising a surface of approximately twenty square metres, are nine tatami mats, an electric stove for the water kettle, a tokonoma niche and a preparation room. Integrated LED technology allows the use of the teahouse at night; the interior can be heated by way of the membrane. Finnaly ..one questions for my readers ..when you saw this house what did you think it was ?

Magnificent Artistic Home with an Art Gallery in Brasil

Casa Je, designed by Humberto Hermeto, lies on a 3160 m2 terrain in Nova Lima, Brazil. It was constructed like a multi-functional structure: an entertaining space at the ground level, a comfortable resting space with bedrooms at the next level and an art studio and gallery at the bottom level. The house was constructed on a slope, so it was the perfect terrain for the beautifully constructed and designed home that meets the client`s needs. Built on 1240 m2, the house placed on a hill overlooks an amazing valley, so it needed to take advantage of all the features of the terrain. An elevator connects the different levels of the residence. The central core of the house is the residential level, which is distributed under a continuous 81 meters roof.

Amazing landscapes can be enjoyed from any room in the house. The main entrance sits above a set of stairs that leads to an incredible porch at the back of the house. This deck covers the art gallery and extends into the backyard where the architects built a pool and the garden area. Exterior colours and textures continue on the inside, where they melt into an interior design that is best suited for strong, artistic individuals. Large floor to ceiling windows offer views of the mountains nearby and build a great desire of breathing in natural shapes and fresh air. Concrete and wood used to build the home was softened by red accents all throughout the garden as a reminder of the strong personality the house radiates. Even the large doors of the gallery are painted red as a reminder of the border between art and nature.

Interior Design That will Make your Cat Happy

When we are planning our houses or apartments we usually think how we want to look, so we can feel good in our own house. Now after I’ve saw this image on the Catshouse I’ve came to the conclusion that there are some people that really care about their cat(s), and they invest serious time and money to make a better life for their pet. These Cat Houses can go anywhere from two to eight feet tall and you can add additions with bark-covered tree limbs or anything of your choice, and come with special sculpted carpets that give it long durability. Finally these Cat Houses look pretty good, and I’m sure that your cat will be more happy.

Tetris Apartments

Tetris Apartments is an innovative project completed by slovenian architects Ofis in Ljubljana. As you can see from these pictures these apartments are inspired by the well known game named Tetris. The building stands on the edge of the 650 apartments development which was finished year ago. By urban rules the block is 3 floors high and 65 meters long. Since the orientation of the apartments is towards the car road the apartment areas together with balconies are orientated to the quieter south side.

WALKER WARNER ARCHITECTS

Walker Warner Architects provides complete architectural services for residential and corporate clients. Since its establishment in 1989 by Brooks Walker and Greg Warner, the firm has completed over 200 projects in California, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, and Maine. Our services are tailored to the uniqueness and diversity of each client and project, while maintaining a consistent focus on design excellence and thorough project management.

Our work is best characterized by the nature of our approach instead of a specific architectural style. We approach each commission with a thoughtful process of interaction with the client and an exploration of the possibilities offered by the site. Each design begins with a study of the existing conditions, specifically: the natural features of the site, the character of any existing structures, and the context created by the surroundings. This provides a rich source of ideas that inform the entire design process and help us to create a site-specific design solution.

Our exploration is guided by the client’s needs and preferences, which frame the entire project. The goal is not simply to render the client’s ideas, but to develop an original solution that expresses the client’s vision with architectural excellence.

Black and White Two Pavilions House Design

This Northbridge house is designed by Johannsen + Associates and located near the Spit Bridge to North Sydney. Black and white house design has two pavilions which looks like wings joined to the entry stairwell. A steel, timber and glass staircase intersects the entry foyer which is the hinge of the split level wings. The house’s design uses plenty of eco-friendly techologies like passive heating and cooling, natural ventilation, solar pool heating and rainwater tanks. With a protected central courtyard, shady terraces and a sunny pool loggia, the outdoor spaces open to different parts of the site and garden. The entertaining level is one large fluid space that takes in a panoramic vista over Middle Harbour. Finely detailed joinery elements define and give character to the living, dining and kitchen areas.

Shell House Design: Spectacularly Curved Architecture

Hovering above the ground, stark white against the surrounding greenery, this Shell Villa byARTechnic seems like a space cruiser from the future frozen in time and in a foreign place. While it stands out sharply from its surroundings this stunning structure also deforms, wraps and curves to its environment in remarkable ways.

The exterior curves of this remote retreat arc around a central tree which strong informs the space shaped in the interior courtyard area. While this curious form makes for an interesting visual object it also informs how people move in, through and around it – in arcing, organic and naturalistic paths left by the voids inside and out.

The interior of the home is as organic as the exterior, flowing and curving as the shell would suggest from the outside and with furniture, furnishings and fixtures that also conform to the ebbs and flows of the building’s shape.

The Camouflage House

This home has been encased in a facade matching the greenery around it, with a beautiful result. The concealing mesh is permeable to let the sunshine filter onto the house. But it also allows the light from inside to radiate out. Allowing the build to sit anonymously by day, but emerge discretely at night. Blurring the boundaries between what is human, and what is not. When I saw the pictures I’ve imediately thought that this home would be perfect durring a war, a perfect example of camouflage. I’m sure that this mesh design can be improved to increase the camouflage.

Log House as Garden Home Office Cabin

If you’ve enjoyed tiny house that serves as quiet home office we covered last week you might also enjoy this Log House because it serves the same purpose. It is located in Hilversum, The Netherlands, belongs to music-entertainer Hans Liberg and designed by Piet Hein Eek. That cozy place isn’t ordinary at all. Log facade covers a plastic and steel frame. Thanks to that the room inside isn’t dark and moody but instead it’s bright and contemporary so it serves wheel as small recording studio. The house has wheels what makes it transportable. Don’t you want such cool thing in your garden to have awesome and not boring place to work in?
